Morris Industries Announces C2 Contour Demo Winner

Saskatoon, SK – Morris Industries announced today the winner of their “Trash Talk” contest with Allen Jones, of Balzac, AB, being the lucky winner of a Morris C2 Contour Demo – their next generation precision drill, that sheds trash faster.

Jones who farms 5000 acres of land, specifically wheat, barley and canola, was looking to improve his seeding techniques and entered the contest in hopes of testing Morris’ new precision placement drill designed to improve trash clearance and make opener adjustments easier.

“The contest struck an interest and I wanted to see if the C2 Contour could help me do a better job from what I was already doing,” said Jones who has been farming for over 30 years. “Ultimately, my main goal is to have a safer seed and fertilizer placement so the seeds can germinate as fast as possible.”

With the advantage of better trash clearance, the C2 Contour becomes a great solution for Jones when it comes to air seeding technology. “My ideal seeding system would have individual depth control with the ability to place the nutrient close to the seed without burning it.”

“We are working closely with Allen to coordinate the demo,” says Randy Ellis, director of North American marketing and sales for Morris Industries. “The C2 Contour will seed at the Jones farm and we are eager to demonstrate how effective the C2 is in field.”

The C2 Contour features a new 12-degree reclined shank, the same angle as the edge-on shank offered on the Morris Maxim air hoe drill. Trash moves up and off the knife faster with its improved shank angle, greatly reducing build up and bunching. Distance from ground level to the trash catch point has been increased by 60 percent from 13.5” to 21” on the C2 Contour, while the parallel linkage has been increased slightly offering an additional five percent packing pressure compared to the original Contour. The opener cam on the C2 Contour is higher up and away from the ground, allowing for easier and faster depth adjustments.
